11:48pm: Grey's Anatomy

If you want a mix of drama, comedy, tragedy, sex, family and action, then Grey's Anatomy is for you. The series revolves around the life of Meredith Grey who began as a surgical intern at Seattle Grace Hospital. Obviously it shows a lot of medical related stuff being set mostly in a hospital. The series discuss a lot of issues ranging from morality, relationships and gender.

Too bad I was not really able to follow the show religiously. I only sa a few episodes and judging from them, I could say that this is a great show. The actors look at ease and they really play their roles well. Of course women, and some men, drool over the hot doctors McDreamy and McSteamy played by Patrick Dempsey and Mark Sloan respectively. It also shows the different facets of humanity through the relationships, struggles and lives of the characters. It is a great show and is worth the watch. I think i'll get myself a DVD to enjoy it from the first to the current season.

10:16pm: Head Over Heels
Amanda Pierce has never been lucky when it comes to men. She recently broke up with her boyfriend whom she caught sleeping with another woman. She decides to leave him and moves in with four supermodels. She bumps into Jim Weston and is easily attracted to him. She sees him everyday since he lives in the apartment across her's. One day, she sees him killing a woman and calls the police who, in turn, did not find anything. Now, together with her supermodel roomies, they try to find out the truth.

What made me watch this movie was Freddie Prinze Jr. As usual, he looked really handsome which made me smile. I think Prinze and Potter did not have a good chemistry onscreen. What I loved in the movie were the supermodels. They were really funny since they were portrayed to be the stereo-typed supermodels. The movie was fine and just enough to entertain you on your laid-back days.

10:59pm: The Bachelor
Most of us long for that one special person who will make a difference in our life. No wonder reality TV made shows for this. The Bachelor is a dating game wherein a bachelor, usually a man of high stature like a doctor, a prince and other sought after types, choose one among 25 women to be his wife. He goes on a series of dates and eliminates the women at a rose ceremony.

I was never a fan of dating shows like this since I know for a fact that they do not work. Judging from the past bachelors, all of them broke up after the show. Everything is so superficial and ties are only created for entertainment purposes. They have featured really gorgeous and dashing men which spiked my interest. But that's it. Also, there is a lot of catfight going on set which is both entertaining and irritating. I don't know how long this show will go. I think they should rather invest in other shows.

10:48pm: Supernatural
Imagine two hot guys battling it out with demons and other paranormal figures- you get a a kick-ass TV show entitled Supernatural. Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles star as brothers Sam and Dean Winchester. They travel the country in their 1967 Chevy Impala investigating and dealing with strange occurrences. One can see the different creatures like vampires, demons werewolves, deadly ghosts and other spirits.

I never followed all the episodes of this show and only only saw a few. Judging from them, they were quite entertaining. Though I never liked watching it at night all alone since it kinda gives me the creeps. The make-up and special effects were great and I love the action scenes. It also has a lot of surprise factors. Plus the actors are really hot. They really look together, as brothers I mean. Haha! I think I now know what to watch on DVD. I hope they make more seasons! Wink.

2:45pm: Experiences with More Digital
It's been two and a half since I first started writing Idiot Box Jury, but it's only recently that I received an email from MoreDigital.com. They are an online marketing company based in London and they said they'd pay me for hosting an advert. Now its always good to see people have been visiting the site, but it's even better to make money out of it.

My first thought was that I should check out the more digital website. I did a websearch and it turns out their site is very professional looking. To make sure they're not a scam, I tried to find some reviews of their site. Most of the reviews I found were positive – although there was one person who said it took them 5 days to get paid. But then that was over Christmas.

Since then I've got my first payment for an advert on Idiot Box Jury. That sure feels good. They guys at moredigital were really helpful and the ad they placed on my site was definitely to a big well known corporation.

More Digital may be all over in London, England but that doesn't matter on the internet – they still do a great job. What's more, I've made some money to invest in a nice new DVD box set

10:54pm: Scream

The quiet little town of Woodsboro, California becomes dangerous haven when Sidney Prescott's mother was murdered. A years after her death, two high school students have been found dead. Sidney becomes the killer's target and barely escapes. Her boyfriend Billy becomes the suspect along with Sidney's father. But they were all proven innocent. Local Tabloid News Reporter Gail Weathers and Woodsbroro's Deputy Dwight "Dewey" Riley investigate and try to figure out who the killer is. Now Sidney must find out who the masked killer is.

I remember this film to be totally terrifying. It had a lot of suspense scenes that made me really scream. Haha! I imagined myself screaming in the theater with my friends. It had a clever plot and was totally unpredictable. It also featured a lot of gore an bloodbath which made me squirm. The horror scenes really kept me at the edge of my seat. The film was brilliant, totally entertaining and could really make you scream living up to its title.

10:03pm: Alien vs Predator
Billionaire Charles Weyland leads an archaeological expedition to Antarctica where his satellites find an ancient pyramid that predates the Egyptian and Aztec civilizations. The pyramid is buried miles below the ice. Little did they know that it is the site of a coming-of-age ritual or Predators who battle with Aliens. The humans are caught in a deadly war between the two races.

It was a great idea to combine the two together. It was like they were meant to battle each other out since they were both aliens. The movie has great special effects which has always been the saving factor of these movies. They tried to infuse history into the whole thing by relating them to the Aztecs and Egyptians. The movie was fine and entertaining enough. The phrase that stuck to me was “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.”. True enough the human joined forces with the Predator to get rid of the ugly aliens.

11:02pm: Minority Report
In the year 2054, the Washington DC has been considered as the safest place to live. An elite law enforcing squad known as Pre-crime is in place. Three genetically altered psychics see into the future predicting crimes before they happen. John Anderton lost his son 6 years ago and has now devoted his life to the new justice system. The precogs suddenly see him committing a murder in 36 hours. Now Anderton is on the run and must remain inconspicuous in the ultra-modern city to find out the truth.

Since this was directed by Steven Spielberg, the special effects were really good. The idea of having a Precrime is really nice and the story was good. It was hard tom anticipate the next scene. I loved the Lexus car since it was really sleek and futuristic. The scenes were great, though not as action-packed as the usual Spielberg movies.

9:53pm: Miss Congeniality
A serial killer is on the prowl and his next target is the Miss United States Pageant. The FBI decides to put an undercover agent as a contestant in the pageant. The unlucky candidate is Gracie Heart who is definitely not a beauty queen material. After a series of makeovers and coaching from a top handler, she transforms to Miss New Jersey named Gracie Lou Freebush. When a suspect has been caught, the FBI packs their bags but Heart is convinced that that was not the real killer. She opts to stay behind and discovered the real killer.

Sandra Bullock looked really great in the movie when she had her makeover. It was a very funny movie which gave us a peek into the world of beauty pageants. Gracie served as an inspiration to the women in the pageant because of her cool side and bravery. It was also about finding love in the most unexpected places and circumstances. The mishaps of Gracie looked really hilarious. If you want to relax and just enjoy, watch this movie.

8:07pm: Dance With Me

Rafael recently lost his mother. With no other family in Cuba, he decides to go to Houston to find his father John. The problem is, John does not know that Rafael is his son. John runs a dance studio with very good dancers. Everyone is busy preparing for the World Open Dance Championship in Las Vegas. Rafael's dancing skill have been really good. Ruby is a talented dancer who is the studio's only hope to make it big in the contest.

The first thing noticed about the movie was the amazing dance scenes. Chayanne looked really amazing and his moves were unique and fun. Vanessa Williams looked really great. Her training paid off since she looked like a ballroom dancing champion. Their chemistry on the dance floor was really intense. The dances were well-choreographed and well-though of. The movie focused on real Latin ballroom dancing. The costumes were also very nice Plus there were a lot of witty and funny line all throughout the movie.

8:24pm: Queer Eye For The Straight Guy
Reality TV has been the rage lately. You have matchmaking shows, search for the next talented singer and dancer and of course fashion-related ones. Queer Eye for The Straight Guy is one them. It is an Emmy-award winning show that featured the Fab Five. These guys were experts in their own fields. Ted Allen is the food and wine connoisser. Kyan Douglas is the Grooming Guru. Thom Filicia is the design doctor. Carson Kressley is the fashion expert. And Jai Rodriguez is the culture vulture. All of them work together to transform a straight guy from drab to fab.

I love watching every episode since you get a lot of ideas from them. The grooming and fashion tips are really great. The culture talks with would really teach you how to conduct yourself in public. It is a total lifestyle show told in a funny and entertaining manner. The interior designs that they feature are to die for. The food and wine is mouth-watering. To top it all, the clothes would really make you drool. Some of the straight guys they do a make-over on are really cute and interesting. Of the Fab Five, Kyan's the hottest and Carson's my favorite because of his humor. The Fab Five's chemistry is addictive which will make you hungry for more.

10:13pm: The Lost Pair
One episode of Sex and the City featured Carrie and her Manolos. She went into a friend's place for a party. When she got there, the hostess asked her to remove her shoes and leave them by the door just like the other guests. The hosts did not want to bring in germs from the outside to their home since they had kids. After the party, Carrie was not able to find her precious Manolos. She had a big falling out with the hostess because of the incident. In the end, the hostess agreed to replace her precious shoes.

I would never join such a party. I mean who would make their guests remove their shoes at a party, right? It's just crazy. This episode shows how expensive those shoes are. Well, others may consider buying them a social sin but if you're really into shoes that's a different story. It was just right for the hostess to pay for the shoes. The security of her guests' belongings were her concern especially when she specifically wanted them to take them off.

10:13pm: American Pie

Jim, Oz, Finch and Kevin are four friends who vow to lose their virginity before they go to college. There's no better opportunity to do that but on Senior Prom. Each of them try in their own little ways to do it. Oz joins the choir, Kevin tries to persuade his girlfriend, Finch spreads rumors and Jim fails. Jim is caught dong nasty things to a pie and on the internet. He also gets good sex advice from his dad. Will they be able to do it? Sit back and enjoy the ride.

I remember watching this feeling all innocent. Haha! Well, it was an eye-opener for some but it was normal for others. The story was really good and the characters were so distinct but their friendship was there. They were a very solid group who supported each other. The movie showed a lot of naughty stuff but in a really funny way. I liked the film because it was really entertaining and the actors were just great fro the roles.

11:25pm: Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix
While in the Muggle world, Harry and his cousin Dudley were attacked by Dementors prompting him to use magic. He returns to Horwarts with all the crazy news that he and Dumbledore have been spreading lies about the Dark Lord's return. The Ministry sent Dolores Umbridge to Hogwarts to be the new Defence against the Dark Arts teacher and later on takes over the school. Harry and his friends create a group known as Dumbledore's Army to learn defensive magic outside class. He continues to have nightmares about the thing that Voldemort wants an they must get to it before he does.

The movie was good. As expected, it had some deviations from the book but it was a great adaptation. The effects were still amazing as expected. I loved the fighting scenes of Dumbledore and Voldemort because of the use of the effects to show their powers. More importantly, the movie taught the value of friendship, loyalty, family and the real meaning of sacrifice. The Potter movie series are getting darker as they come to the final book. I just hope that the two remaining books have amazing adaptations too.

10:23pm: Free Willy
Fishermen caught a young orca and it ends up as an attraction in the Marina. Jesse is trouble-maker who has been caught vandalizing the Marina. He is then sentenced to clean the mess and spends more time at the Marina. He befriends the stubborn orca Willy and began teaching him tricks, something that the trainer has never been able to do. When Willy did not show his tricks to an audience, the owner plans to do nasty things to the whale. Jesse and hi friends must now find a way to save and free Willy.

This was truly a heart-warming story. Actually it made me cry while watching it. The bond between Jesse and Willy was really great and touching. The movie teaches us compassion towards animals and the role we play in their survival. The change in Jesse was brought about by his new purpose, and that is caring for Willy. It was when he met the whale that he started to feel complete. This is one of the best movies to show kids that men and animals could have a great bond.

10:16pm: The Ring
Reiko Asakawa is a young journalist investigating the existence of a cursed video. Her niece Tomoko mysteriously dies with a terror written all over her face. She soon discovers that Tomoko's other friends also died the same way. She goes to the cabin where the teens stayed hoping for answers. She finds an unlabeled videotape and watches it. She receives a phone call that in 7 days, she will die.

This movie totally freaked me out! I remember watching it and could not sleep that night. Me and my friends were screaming when the ghost/monster started coming out of the TV. For a while, I did not want to use the TV in the middle of the night. Haha! It was a low budget film but it really spread terror. Hollywood even made a remake of it. I think what made it scary was the fact that it was Japanese actors who played the part. There was also a lot surprising scenes that really got me by surprise. The whole thing looked cheap but it still gave out a very horrifying experience to the audience.

9:20pm: Will And Grace

With the proliferation of hit TV sitcoms, Will and Grace was one of the funniest. The show is set in New York City where best friends Will and Grace are the main characters. Will is a gay lawyer who is very keen on cleanliness while Grace is a straight Jewish interior designer. They are joined by their friends Karen Walker, a rich bisexual socialite and Jack McFarland who is a gay actor/nurse/singer/dancer and whatever.

The series is really hilarious and one would really love watching it. No wonder it earned 16 Emmy Awards and 83 nominations. Whew! That's a lot. Their adventures are really interesting as well as the relationships they have. The show was criticized for the portrayal of gay people but I think it was fine. In reality, there are gay people who act and live just like some of the characters. The friendship of Will and Grace is really touching. They both stick it out for each other no matter what.

9:27pm: How I Met Your Mother
While browsing through channels, I stumbled upon a show that featured the lives of five friends. It kinda sparked my interest that I stuck it out. Boy it was hilarious! How come I didn't discover this show before?

How I Met Your Mother premiered on the CBS in 2005. The main character Ted Mosby is telling the story of how he met his wife to his kids in 2030, thus the title of the show. Other main characters are Marshall Eriksen, Robin Scherbatsky, Barney Stinson, and Lily Aldrin. The one character that stood out from the rest would be Barney Stinson. I really like his character since he is really funny and he brings a lot of personality to the show. The show features the friendship that binds them no matter what. They get into each other's nerves sometimes but they set aside their differences and continue to be friends.

9:49pm: In Her Shoes
Maggie is beautiful, selfish and totally irresponsible. Her sister Rose is her exact opposite, an attorney, responsible, lonely and compulsively buys shoes to take away her frustrations. Maggie is thrown out from her father's house by her step-mother. She crashes at Rose's couch but is soon left homeless when Rose caught her sleeping with the man of Rose's dreams. Maggie finds a stack of letters in her father's desk and finds herself at the doorstep of her estranged grandmother.

I thought this was another chick flick because of the title and the character of Cameron Diaz. It was definitely not a shallow film since it addressed a lot of issues. It issues that dealt with family, love and sickness. It taught the value of the family. In the end, it will always be your family that will be by your side to support you no matter what. Also, sometimes the one person you think that is perfect for you, may not be necessarily the right one for you. Rose wanted a different guy but ended up marrying someone she didn't expect she would like. Maggie changed a lot when she was with her grandma. It was transformation that brought their family together again.

10:00pm: Just Married
Sarah and Tom meet on the beach and the two instantly hit it off. They move in together after a month and decided to get married 9 months after. Tom is a traffic DJ on the night shift while Sarah is the youngest daughter of a wealthy businessman. The two get married against the wishes of her parents and friends. The lovestruck pair went to Europe to enjoy their honeymoon where they encounter all the mishaps thus making it a honeymoon in hell.

The movie was really hilarious. Britanny Murphy and Ashton Kutcher had a crazy chemistry. They were like a match made in heaven and hell. They looked cute as a couple and enemies. The movie may be shallow but it teaches the value of love and trust in a relationship. They come from entirely different worlds but they found a common ground in love. They may have had a huge falling out during the honeymoon but they still ended up together because they know that they need each other.

10:58pm: Oprah

We all know her as the queen of daytime television. Media mogul Oprah Winfrey has sharing her life with us on a daily basis. Her show has invited a lot of Hollywood celebrities and personalities. She also discussed a lot of topics that are socially relevant and important. Of course, she does not forget to share her wealth by showering the audience with her favorite things. I remember an episode where the entire audience got cars!

I could only imagine how it feels to be in the set of Oprah. A lot of people would die to have a spot in that studio. I'm hoping that if ever i'll go join her show she will give out some stuff. Seriously, I would love to visit the set one day and be a part of the audience. I also like her charitable efforts to the less fortunate. Oprah is a very strong media personality that could influence a lot of people. And with what she is doing, she is a good example to all people. She may be rich but she does not forget her roots by sharing what she has.

10:25pm: Homeless Ross
One episode of friends featured Ross homeless and crashing at Joey's and Chandler's place. At first it was cool since they were having fun. But then they realized that Ross has mannerisms that are irritating. Plus Ross' stuff is all over the place. They try to kick him out by helping him look for a place. One they saw one, they realized that it was a bad thing to do. In the end, they decided to let Ross stay.

This particular episode made me realize the value of friendship. Ross may have irritating actions but since he was their friend, they accepted that. There will be people you would love to hate but you can never do without. The friendship that they share in the show should be emulated. Their bond serves as an inspiration to people. True friends will always be there when you needed them and they will accept you for who and what you are no matter what.

9:35pm: Sorority Boys
Three rowdy frat boys have been booted out of their frat house after they were charged for stealing money. Homeless, they decided to dress up as women and pledged to a sorority house of not-so-attractive girls. The longer they stay in the sorority house, the more they realize their past mistakes on women. They decide to attend their old frat's party to get in the house and grab their stuff and also helping their sorority sisters in the process.

This movie was totally hilarious. Since I am a sucker for no-brainer movies like this, I love it! It was just like the other college-themed movies and was predictable but still enjoyable. Barry Watson looked really hot. Well, he is always hot. Maybe he was the reason why I stuck it out until the end. Barry and his pals looked really funny when they tried to look like girls. They were too big to be girls. Haha!

11:05pm: The Crystal Maze
As kids, we love those adventure films like Indiana Jones wherein they go through different obstacles to retrieve a treasure and escape from the cave alive. This was the usual theme or missions of video games. An example would be the Mario Brothers game that had a lot of people hooked. TV game show are not just for adults to enjoy. I remember a show that showed people looking for crystals scattered in a big maze with different obstacles.

The Crystal Maze was a show produced by Chatsworth Television which aired from 1990 – 1995. They created a maze which were divided into four zones namely: Aztec, Futuristic, Medieval and Industrial. The objective is to collect as many crystals as possible by overcoming tasks and obstacles in a given zone. Teams of five crawl through tunnels, climb ladders and solve puzzles to get a crystal. The show was really interesting to watch. One could feel the adrenaline rush of the contestants and you would also end up cheering on the couch. Too bad the show doesn't air anymore. I hope they make a new version.

11:20pm: Hercules

The gods and goddesses have always fascinated me when I was a kid. I always liked staring at them and watch shows about them. I got my weekly dose from Kevin Sorbo's Hercules. The show featured Hercules and his friends traveling all over and taking on different challenges. Almost every episode was interesting and entertaining. It had a perfect mix of adventure, drama and humor.

I remember an episode wherein there was a crossover of Xena: The Warrior Princess. Well, both shows looked really the same, only the leads were different. Hercules had amazing strength while Xena had her training and moves. The costumes and effects were well-thought of. It was amazing they spent a lot of money on a sitcom like that. If the ratings are good then they should make it better, right? The series taught a lot of values like friendship, compassion, love and courage. These values were shown through the characters in different scenes and circumstances.
